 students have recently held internships with NBC, USA Network, MTV, Channel 13, The MacNeil-Lehrer News Hour, The Museum of Broadcasting, Anglo-Jewish Newspapers, various businesses and major hospitals. On the political and social front, students have interned in the offices of Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-NY), Senator Conrad Burns (R-MT), Senator John Danforth (R-MO), Former Governor Mario Cuomo, Assemblyman Dov Hikind, and the Rhode Island State Legislature. The School of Career and Applied Studies offers intensive computer science programs as well as English programs, liberal arts courses and career-oriented programs in such fields as business management, accounting and health sciences. Staff and faculty are experienced in responding to the special needs of this population with warmth and understanding, and courses are offered through a network of easily accessible neighborhood based centers. Dormitory students enjoy proximity to a wide range of educational, cultural, religious, and social opportunities. Supermarkets and other shopping facilities are located in the immediate vicinity of the dormitories. Dormitory residences typically include a bedroom, a living room and dining area, a fully-equipped kitchen, private bathroom, and ample closets and storage space. Each onlineeducation dormitory also has a Social/Study Lounge. The dormitory facilities are supervised by dormitory counselors, usually graduates of College, who report directly to the Dean of Students. All students are expected to abide by the code of conduct which governs dormitory life at . Students living in the dormitories are placed, on request, with families for Shabbat and certain Jewish Holidays. Most of the placements are made in Manhattan. The Shabbat Visitation Program is coordinated through the head counselors in the Men''s and Women''s dormitories. The College organized sister institutions in Israel and Russia. The School for Lifelong Education, offering a non-traditional mentored-based program, was organized in Fall 1989.
