 Those who work in occupational therapy use their personal and professional skills to help people deal with health problems that interfere with their ability to function in daily life. Occupational therapists are important members of the health-care team, working closely with physicians, psychologists, nurses, and physical, speech, and recreational therapists. Career opportunities abound in hospitals, public and private schools, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and home health programs. Experienced therapists may also become private onlinecollege practitioners, or choose to work in business and industrial settings. Occupational therapists work in mental health, pediatrics, gerontology, physical disabilities, and many other areas. By gaining additional skills and training, they are able to practice in specialized areas such as hand rehabilitation, drug and alcohol abuse, and vocational rehabilitation. In addition to clinical practice, occupational therapists may choose to become involved in administration, education, or research. Occupational therapy is a varied, interesting, and rewarding career. The Beth Medrash Option involves a number of Shiurim (lectures), as well as Beth Medrash preparation four mornings each week (Monday through Thursday), from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. each day. Students earn 4.5 credits each semester for the Beth Medrash Option. Students may arrange for a two-day a week schedule in consultation onlinecollege with department advisors. College admits students who demonstrate the competence, motivation, energy, and maturity to pursue a degree program while meeting life''s complex responsibilities. The standard used to measure these qualities is present motivation and ability rather than past performance. Though a high school diploma or equivalent is generally required for admission, recognizes that the knowledge, skills, and ability which are expected of entering college students may be acquired through a variety of nontraditional learning experiences. College draws its students from all regions of the United States and from many foreign countries.
