On the political and social front, students have interned in the offices of Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-NY), Senator Conrad distanceeducation Burns (R-MT), Senator John Danforth (R-MO), Former Governor Mario Cuomo, Assemblyman Dov Hikind, and the Rhode Island State Legislature. The School of Career and Applied Studies offers intensive computer science programs as well as English programs, liberal arts courses and career-oriented programs in such fields as business management, accounting and health sciences. Placement counselors help students develop job search skills resume preparation, interviewing, researching companies and the job market. Each year this office organizes a Career Forum which brings to the campus leaders from a variety of companies who present information about career opportunities and job market trends. Since the 1994 academic year, the distanceeducation College has annually hosted an On-Campus Recruitment Fair with representatives from accounting firms, banks and brokerage houses, insurance companies, and government and social services agencies.
